Let it be; it will fall off by itself. A new, healthy nail will replace it. Regrowth speed is 1 mm per week (on average). Give it around 4 months. For now, keep the nail remnant trimmed to avoid catching or tearing it. Although, air exposure is good, try not to get the nail bed dirty. Make sure to keep it clean. You may want to cover it with a lightweight bandage (perhaps with a little antibacterial ointment). See your doctor if you experience any sign of infection (e.g. swelling, redness, pus, or increased pain).

Hi there. About 5 months ago I slammed my toe in a door at the gym, broke my toe and my toe nail started coming off. 5 months on, it's fallen away and a new one is growing in it's place. The best thing you can do is keep a plaster over it so that you don't accidently catch it on anything as this hurts. Other than that, let it fall off naturally. It takes less time for a smaller finger nail to grow than a toe nail. You'll be fine! :)

Cover the nail that you are losing to keep it from snagging. It will eventually come off on its own and a new one will regrow. The regrowth will take time but it will grow back. If the nail starts swelling or getting red, have your doc take a look at it. Other than that let nature take its course. And as I tell my son....please stop breaking stuff! So far he has broken his nose, finger, growth plate in his foot and his toe! All trying to show off for a girl!

My daughter lost her big toe nail in a door in August. It didn't come off at first it turned black because blood was trapped inside. It fell off by itself.I did take her to the doctor to check it out.My advice to you is not to pull it off if will come off if it is going to.Just don't let it get caught on to something. It will grow back.I broke my fingers in a door once so I know how painful it can be sorry.Be glad you didn't lose you finger.Keep the area clean and maybe use oitment.

Just protect it from snagging, it will probably take 6 months to grow back, don't pull it off.
