I had a similar situation when I had my baby. My insurance and photo ID had my maiden name as well and I was checked into the hospital under that name. When I completed the information for the birth certificate I gave my daughter my fiance's last name. So when we got married I only had to change my last name. It shouldn't cause confusion at the hospital. I didn't have a problem at all. So try not to worry and just enjoy your fiance and the new baby you are having. I wish you all the best.

You can give the baby any last name that you like... even if it's one that isn't from you or your fiance. It won't cause problems at the hospital.
I think that if you have a copy of your marriage license when you check into the hospital, you may be able to sign in under your married name. I used my marriage license for prrof of my name until I got an ID in my married name. Also, you can check into pre-admissions. I don't know if they do it at every hospital, but where I gave birth, we went in and gave them all of my information before the baby was born. Then when I went into labor, it was just a matter of giving them my name and showing proof of ID (your marriage license).
Good luck and congrats all around!

You don't register the baby till you leve the hospital...whe you have the baby it will be given your last name at the hospital...you fill out the birth certificates and registration when you leave the hospital. The baby can't have your fiance's last name at the hospital becasue you are the one registered as the patient. Relax...what they call your baby at the hospital has no bearing on what its legal name will be...you will just have to register at the hospital in your maiden name if that's what is on your id.
I read some andwers and people aren't reading the question...in the hospital...say your last name is Green...you baby will be known at the hospital as Baby Green because you are the patient

There won't be any confusion at the hospital. You can give the baby what ever name you want to give them. You don't even have to give the baby a name at the time of birth. It can be determined up to a year after the baby is born. Don't worry about it. You should be nice and calm and awaiting the arrival of your little bambino:).

I'm not married to my baby's father, and she has both of our names.
You can give your baby whatever surname you want when you register the birth. You will have to register your child again after you get married though, if the law for where you are is the same as where I am.
Good luck for the future!

i think all you do is tell them the father's name ?? sometimes fathers are not there at birth so at least in Texas, i know they give the child the last name of the father, if known, not of the mother.
Only the mother's name is used when they do not identify the father.
Plus you wont confuse the hospital, they imediately put the mother's name on the child, to match them.

it is totally as much as you. Nicole Kidman stored her call at the same time as married to Tom Cruise, and their newborn's final names have been hyphenated to Kidman-Cruise. especially the youngsters take the daddy's surname, yet i think of a hyphenated call is remarkable if the mummy does not take an identical call because of the fact the daddy.
