it appears to be frozen or stuck please help

To put Yahoo on the desktop .... go Start ... All programs ... click right mouse button on Yahoo to get pulldown menu ... find Send To --- > click on Send to Desktop (shortcut)
Why your mail doesn't work from Yahoo it's a mystery ... Can be a bug. If I were you I'd re-install Yahoo. Before you do make sure to see FAQ in Help section. You may find an answer there. Also check if you use correct e-mail addresses.

To get an icon that will take you to the Yahoo home page (or any other page), open Inetenet Explorer
Go to the page you want
Click on Favorites and Add a Favorite
Drag that Favorite from the Favorties menu to your desktop
