The notion is that pirates are romantic characters, roaming the seas with no one to stop them, plundering and pilaging as they go, wealth, power, the terrorists of another age. We have always had a facination with them, there is even a Disney film called Bluebeard's Ghost.
This movie got the box office draw because of a great cast, great acting, a little ghost and goblin thrown in for good measure along with the swash and buckle, a good romance, unlikely friends, a mystery, and then there is Johnnny Depp, who was great in this. Can't wait for the sequel! Great special effects, and stunt work! too!

Cause there are 2 hotties starring in it, JOhnny Depp who is definately the hottest and Orlando Bloom . Besides Pirate movies always are great.

Pirate movies are usually heavy and gloomy, but this one's more light and comical. People like the change.

They are well made, with a perfect cast for the parts they play. There is a lot of action, and enough humor to lighten it up and make them entertaining!!
