There are no creams, oils, or lotions that will prevent stretch marks... The best thing you can do is follow your doctors advice on weight gain... Excess weight gain will cause more stretch marks...Heredity will determine if you get stretch marks and or facial hair... Alot of strange things will happen to your body while you're pregnant, dark spots on your face and body hair growing in strange places and it will grow at a fairly fast rate... I got bad stretch marks on my stomach and Hair grew on my stomach as well... Now the hair is gone but it looks like I've been attacked by a Cougar... *I have really bad stretch marks*

If its in your gene pool stretch marks are unavoidable. There are ways to minimize them a bit like eating a healthy diet so that you gradually gain wait instead of drastically, the same applies to loosing weight after birth, make sure it is gradual. Further coco butter and other lotions do help somewhat to reduce the appearance of stretch marks but will never prevent them completely. About the facial hair-lol-I have not heard anything about growing dark facial hair, but from my own experience I started growing dark hairs on my belly and around my nipples-yikes, really gross- it really freaked me out and I hope it goes away after delivery.
Good luck and don't stress out too much, your beautiful always, especially when your pregnant

I really don't think that cocoa butter works....in my experience and i'm 40 weeks + 4 days and counting with my third child had no strectch marks with the 1st but got them with my 2nd because I put on so much weight. Now with my 3rd I have been watching my weight very closely and didn't get one!! The ones that I had before have faded over the years and are hardly noticible so i'm really happy to not have added to them. Now, as for the hereditary aspect, I can understand that whether or not your mother got them may determine if you get them but my mom has stretch marks all over her but I didn't suffer in the same way. I honestly think that if you do not gain so much weight and eat healthily (nutrients play an important part) then if you are going to get them it won't be so bad. I never used any creams this time and have been lucky. As for the facial hair, some people do develop it but as far as i'm aware it goes after pregnancy..it's all those hormones. Your hair on your body and head will definately get thicker though! Enjoy your pregnancy and stay healthy...you'll do just fine!!

Unfortunately, they are unavoidable. I tried everything. cocoa butter, vitamin E, various lotions, and I still got them. And I only gained 20 lbs. with my pregnancy. Of course, I am a small person (5'6, 120 lbs.) and I had large, 9 lb. babies. Your size and your babies size will definately be a factor in how bad you get them. My friend recently had her first baby. The doctor closely monitored the weight of the fetus. In the end, they enduced her 2 and 1/2 weeks early. This helped her because she was just beginning to get stretch marks.

As for the dark facial hair thing, that never happened to me, but you never know. Every pregnancy is different and strange things definately do happen to your body when you are pregnant. All the hormones, you just never know.

I didn't get any dark facial hair when I was pregnant. During my last trimester I got bad acne, guess it was hormones or something. Don't know what you can use to prevent stretch marks. I used Palmers coco butter but it didn't help. 10 years later I still have pink and purple stetch marks, looks like a road map. blah

Best of Luck!

If your mom had them, you're probably doomed. I thought I was going to be safe because I used cocoa butter from about 3 months until I delivered, and I didn't see anything developing---UNTIL right at the nine month mark. Then it was like overnight they were on the abdomen. The facial hair is a hormonal thing, I didn't have that problem, but I have heard of it too. Ask your mom to show you her belly to see what you might have to look forward to.

I got strech marks with my first baby, but not with my second. They aren't that bad but my mom and my sister have terrible strech marks. Drink LOTS of water, lotions and other gimmicks don't work. Another way to help prevent strech marks is to not use your pregnancy has an excuse to over-indulge yourself, don't eat whatever you want just because you can. Maintaining a heathly diet is good for you and baby.
As far as the hair goes. You may get a couple of hairs, probably not a big deal, my family refers to them as Irish hairs, just check for them and pluck, it shouldn't be too bad. On the bright side, speaking from presonal experince, my leg hair growth slowed down so much, I could go nearly a week without having to shave.

Stretch marks can be genetic, it depends on the elasticity of your skin. I have 3 children and the only stretch marks are on my boobs from nursing all of them. Coco butter does work, Good Luck!

Nope no avoiding them. They are genetic, if you mom had them you probably will too. Coco butter does not work either, but if your growing stomach gets itchy then it will help with that. And everyone is different, I did not get facial hair with either pregnancy.

No matter how many expensive or unexpensive lotions you put on, if you have "bad" skin you will get them. I doen't hur putting lotion on, it helps making the itching easier. My cousin never put lotion on her belly, she has had 2 pg no strech marks. Her sister just had her 1st baby, bought expensive lotions, put them on everyday, she's full of stretch marks (really bad). So it depends on you and your body type, I do think most women are *doomed* to get them. I know is scary......and the only thing you can do to repare them is laser treatment, which can be expensive, but it's the only thing that works, it "glues" the skin together again, and you have to do it when the strectch marcks are new (red color), if time goes by and they go white (they are old) and not even laser will get rid of them
