Just heard Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall" on the radio and wandered...The chorus goes, "We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control" it then goes on to say, "Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!"
Surley if they feel confident enough to say that they don't require any education, they should say, "We don't need 'any' education, We don't need 'any' thought control" "Hey! Teachers! Leave 'those' kids alone!" (at least!) It might not rhyme as well I'll give you that, but it's just an observation. Or am I being too pedantic? Or should I go back to school?

I was listening to that same song a couple days ago and thought the exact same thing. If they are speaking like that than they obviously do need an education!

My husband hates that song, as he was educated in an inner city comp in the 1970s where all of those 'trendy' ideas caused anarchy. I bet the offspring of Pink Floyd spent their schooldays being privately educated!

Anyone here ever heard of "irony"? Or did they not teach that at school? I despair, I really do... For goodness sake, don't listen to the rest of the album and take, for example, the lyrics "turn on the showers and fire up the ovens" as a genuine call to re-build the Nazi death camps.

It's just a song. I like it. It's a rebel type song. Kids rebelling against authority. I like the beat. And the part where he says you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat. I laugh everytime I hear it.

That song went a long way to propell the idea that ignorance is bliss and schools are just over paid babysitters.
The truth is that teachers are underpaid and over worked.

That's just a cool song for burnt out junkies that don't study and don't obey anybody anyway. So the song fits anyone who just wants to hang and not progress in life, just wait and see where life takes them. lol

it's slang. if you don't understand then you're just not very good at interpreting lyrics. the people most likely to be claiming they don't need an education are the same people who would use that kind of slang. jeez, you''re an idiot
