I am 8 weeks along, and wondering if anyone knows why or if this is a problem

Yes, mine does it too. It has a lot to do with circulationand hormones....also the changes in your sleeping positions. I am now at 20 weeks and it still happens. Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.

Most likely, the weight of your growing uterus is pushing on a nerve. Make sure when you lie down that you lay on your side. this takes the weight of you growing baby off the aortic artery and off you spinal column allowing better blood flow. When you go in to you OB make sure you tell him about the numbness and tingling. He will most likely tell you to sleep on you side and try not to stress about it. There is a chance that you could have a heart problem so be sure he knows about what is going on so that if it is something more serious, you can get it under control.

I'm 31 weeks and my arms STILL fall asleep every night.....lol i wake up and they are numb, kinda freaks me out. My ob/gyn told me to drink more water. Good Luck!!

this is a side effect,carpel tunnel syndrome caused by early fluid retention,it isharmless and will pass,
