I have been getting a lot of Internet Explorer boxes saying ie has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. I don't know what else to do. All of the scan programs have to be purchased and I am unemployed right now and can't afford to purchase? Are there any legitimate free websites that can help repair IE?

Do not delete any file, because the program may not work at all.
It may be possible to disable it and IE will still work. Locate the file and rename it iefilter.dl$ and see if IE works. If it doesn't you will have rename it again to the original file name.

Search for iefilter.dll, then once you locate it, delete it.
