I have lived in several places throughout the world. When it comes to racism, the USA is still divided, but not in the way you might think. Generally speaking, the majority of the white population have graciously looked beyond skin color and made an effort to value the person's worth by his abilities. Blacks, Hispanics and other minorities are keen on preserving their identity and culture and are holding on to racism as a tool for the promotion of their people. They are keen to uncover anything which might remotely resemble prejudice. Yet, in doing so, they are the ones preserving bigotry and living in racism.

It is like the C&W song said, "Everything is beautiful.... You shouldn't care about the length of his hair, or the color of his skin. Don't worry about what shows from without, but the beauty that lies within." As far as people in the "ghetto" go, that is foriegn agitators just trying to keep the US from REALLY pulling toghether and kicking their butts. If they can keep some of us at the throats of some of the others, they have a distraction from what they are doing. Somewhat like a stage magician.

As someone who really doesn't know enough about the subject to have a well founded opinion, could someone please tell me:
How many non-Caucasian gouvernors/congressmen/senators, how many dark skinned heads of corporations/universities/civil service departments are there, and are there more or less than the actual percentage of population would mean there should be?

As long as the number of people in high positions were considerably lower than that, one would ask why, if it wasn't for the obvious reason.

Exactly the same is true for equal rights between male and female.

Kookoo speak for yourself...

I agree that self awareness is part of the problem as well as the "ghetto culture"

The ghetto is a state of mind..not just a place.

If you can change the mindset then you can change anything

Are you going to start by understanding the English language and then expressing said thoughts in a coherent and legible piece of work?

KooKoo is absolutely right.. Proclaiming you don't see color is not the same as actually not seeing color. KooKoo, Tell it as it is my brother.

The color of your skin IS something! It has to do with your culture and heritage and it is a part of who you are! Do pretend that being black is the same as being white is the same as being Asian is silly and racist.

by saying the ghetto...you are referring to blacks, right? well, you cant really blame them for being the way they are (many of them).
they are second class citizens! they do not have equal opportunities in terms of good education, job opportunities, even accommodation! once these issues are resolved and "we are all equal under God" then, racism will sees to exist. which of course will never happen! since some are born privileged and others are not. that's how capitalism and democracy works. you cant have all kids going to prep-schools, can you? then, who will be the janitor, taxi driver, mover, teacher, police man.....etc some are born to rule, others are born to be ruled. Lenin wasn't just some lunatic or crazy guy who wanted things his way!!!
