The record of search history which appears in the search box on Yahoo! is actually a feature controlled by your browser, not Yahoo!
If you have Internet Explorer as your browser, you may stop the search history from being generated by following the instructions below:
1. Select the the 'Tools' menu in Internet Explorer.
2. Select 'Internet Options', then select the 'Content' tab.
3. Under Personal information, click on the 'AutoComplete' box.
On the AutoComplete Settings window you can click the 'Clear Forms' box to delete your current history, or you can uncheck the Forms box to permanently stop the generation of the search history.
A single item can be deleted by pressing the 'delete' key while the item is highlighted.
If you have Firefox as your browser, you may stop the search history from being generated by following the instructions below:
1. Select the the 'Tools' menu in Firefox.
2. Select 'Options', then select the 'Privacy' button, and then the 'Saved Forms' tab.
In the window you can click the 'Clear Saved Form Data Now' box to delete your current history, or you can uncheck the "Save Information' box to permanently stop the generation of the search history.
A single item can be deleted by pressing the 'shift delete' key while the item is highlighted.

it takes more than just clearing history
which is what most people think is the solution
do the following and you will have no worries
open your browser
click tools up top
click internet options
click clear history
change the days to keep history to 0
click delete files
click settings change the amount of disk space to use to 1mb
click ok
now click the content tab
click auto complete
click clear forms
then where it says use autocomplete for uncheck all the things you dont want your browser to store.
that way you wont have to keep going back and clearing things out. good luck
