Just some advice for being induced. I'm not sure how your doctor is planning on doing it. But if they are planning on just doing pitocin. It might be worth it to ask them about some other methods first...trust me I've had three inductions. If you are dialated less than a 3 the doctor should be able to put prostaglandins inside of you first, the one they used on me was called cytotec. What it does is it causes your cervix to dialate and usually causes you to go into labor on your own. If you are already past a 3 sometimes having your water broke can cause you to labor on your own also. I've had all of these things, and pitocin was the worse.

For advice on pushing. All I can say is that it's harder when you get the epideral, because you don't feel how you are naturally supposed to. So then you kind of just have to wing it and guess how it's supposed to feel. So if you can push without the epideral it will be easier and feel more natural. Also for some people pushing is easy and comes naturally, and for others they just can't figure it out. I hope for your sake it's easy!

All I can say is it feels like you have to poo. When you have a contraction and they tell you to push just act like its a hard poo and try to get it out. I did not take lamaze and was also induced, you just have to concentrat really hard and push like your using the rest room. It only took 20 min of pushing and my son was born my doctor could not belive how well I did and I did not use and epederil. This was my first and I was also nervous, I think I asked everyone the very same question. Good luck and god bless!!

This might sound ridiculous--but don't listen to the doctor. Be sure you breath but push for the entire contraction or however long you feel like pushing for. I didn't take Lamaze either--everyone said that I was horrible for not taking Lamaze but in the end I think it may have messed me up. I did it the old-fashioned way I guess-I just did what felt right. Don't scream--it takes up too much energy. Just pushed as much as you can. I only pushed for maybe five minutes, tops.

Listen to the doctor if he tells you your life is in danger--don't listen to how they tell you to push.

o.k. i practice pushed the whole time, when a contraction hit, i didn`t let them know. so by the time the BIG moment came -i pushed her out in 2 1/2 pushes. honey, being induced is pretty hard, do this unless they tell you not to. MAY YOUR CERVIX dialate with speed ,darling- i didn`t take lamaze eighter. i did take childbirth classes they advised epiderals lol. they wer`nt impressed with lamaze. oh with pitocin you`re going to contract for a while till your cevrix opens up completly.

When the time comes, you'll feel the need. Even with an epidural, I felt the pressure and pushing sensation. If its available, you might want to request a bar and towel. I plan to with my second because as you are "pulling" on the towel, your body naturally pushes down below where it needs to. Good luck to you and I hope you dilate and have this baby without being induced--I've heard it can be very miserable. (I was to be induced with my first on the 19th and she came on her own on the 18th)

Try not to push from your diaphram. When you push out a baby, it should be as if you are ( forgive me for the graphics, but you asked) as if you are taking a crap. Don't over-push because you could give yourself hemmorhiods and you could bust all kinds of blood vessels in your rectum and in your face or even give yourself an anurism.

Just remember that the doctor and midwife are fully trained. They will tell you exactly when to push, and when to stop, and they do both for a reason. Listen to their advice and stay as calm as possible.
I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck !

Make sure you push in your "bottom" and not in your face or chest. You will know exactly what I mean when it's time to push. Good Luck and Congratulations!
