I am looking to relocate to the San Francisco Bay area. I have looked at several cities, but now have an opportunity for employment in Union City. Does anyone have any opinions of this city. If you don't or if you aren't fond of Union City, can you suggest some place else in the not too distant area that I may investigate.
Thanks

Nice mixed suburb, decent weather, close to BART (subway system) and pretty safe. I thought of living there, but now that I work in San Francisco it's a longer commute than I wanted to have. I'd recommend it. Fremont's nice too, heavy East Indian presence (and so some great restaurants). Hayward & San Leandro are okay, but a little rougher (wannabe "gangstas" but they rarely cause serious problems). Milpitas is all right, but may be far from where you plan to work. There's no bart there so if you need to get to SF or Oakland you'll have to drive (no fun during commute hours). Oakland and Berkeley you have to be careful, some neighborhoods are very dangerous, others are fine. El Cerrito and Albany are okay. Avoid Richmond. Traveling East there are expensive suburbs like Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette and Walnut Creek. They're not as mixed racially but hardly hotdebs of klan activity either. Farther our are Concord, Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg and Antioch which aren't much fun to commute from but okay little towns. If you like sunshine in the summer, you'llprobably find Oakland, Berkeley, San Leandro and maybe Hayward too foggy (I think El Cerrito and Albany get pretty fogged in too).

Hope this helps. I think Union City is a good choice.

Union city's alright

its kind of small but it right in the center of the bay area and the weather is perfect

you can get to san francisco berkeley or san jose easy

i dont know what you are used to but UC is probably better then where you come from

its not ghetto but its not super expensive either

exciting column however the comparable previous tale. each time that a CBA is in place 2 events are signatory to it not one. Industries have failed via fact of Union featherbedding and severe salary demands ,that are inflationary retaining the spiral up ward on wages and costs, and likewise administration ineptness which gave into those demands to maintain the cycle going. while ever a strike or a lockout occurs no person wins. In a municipal putting electorate backlash against the managers and wages by ability of the staff are lost and not in any respect recovered deflating the quantity spent interior the community. On the two factors of the table administration and exertions the two have rights and responsibilities so while something like this occurs there is sufficient blame on the two factors. look at huge metallic and you will not ought to circulate any further to realize what can circulate incorrect. With the State being the "risk-free practices"internet for lots of societies outcast ,climate that is scientific or social, many won't pick to paintings in a penitentiary or psychological wellness center so the state ought to compensate for this reason. we are in a position to speak approximately pressures on retirees and their pensions yet that's for yet another day. that is humorous yet financial accountability might treatment allot of issues yet no person can abdomen that theory.....

Union City would not be my choice. Where do you live that is so bad you want to live in the Bay Area? However,if you want to live in one of the most expensive, crime ridden areas in Calif. you have picked the right area.
