"And who made you the fashion police? Maybe that is his style. Why can't he have the freedom to wear what he wants without having you judge him?" the point is its not his style, if the cool kids were wearing tube tops and capris thats what he would wear.

I agree. Kids are brainwashed by media advertizers with cool commercials into thinking that they MUST have that overpriced, labeled junk to be cool.

And, it's the snotty ones...or the wannabee socialites that do it.
Of course, it's no worse than the other cultures wearing their brands of cultish crap!

I think someones a little jealous. Hehehe. "my brother is 17 and he's such a follower.." and you're not HOW? Calling him a "follower" and "label whore" just proves that you are doing the same by trying to be a so-called "unique individual". I Got news for you kid, NOBODY is immune to group-think. Get over yourself and go buy some nice clothes instead of shitty t-shirts from bands no one cares about. People are judged by what they look like first. This is the way it will always be because that's just how people are. Grow up and stop whining about such unimportant things that do you no real harm.

I'm pretty sure you said it yourself when you said follower and label whore! I don't understand this either. Why pay a bunch of money for crappy made clothing!? For some reason, these companies make themselves "the thing to buy" mostly b/c of their advertising and the "rich kids" who buy them. If you have it, you're cool, if you don't-you're not. It's ridiculous! I never wore the stuff when I was in high school, and I can't stand the smells and loud music coming from these annoying stores either!

Same as in the late 80's and early 90's when I was a kid, we wore "Used", "Damaged", "Bum", "Guess", and "Air Jordan's". We thought we were cool, too. "Look at my $60 pants!"

Kids now pay $30+ for a T-shirt to advertise for a huge corporation.

(I think I made myself sound really old.)

is there a point to this?

So you don't like labels, that is the wonder of this country, people have freedom of speech, so they can wear what they want.
