i cant figure this out and its making me nuts, do i need to replace the usb ports?

Perhaps your overloading try a powered usb hub to stop the copier using usb power

Sounds like there isn't enough power to keep both devices working so one gets switched off. Are they both powered via the usb socket or do they have mains adapters too?

Sounds to me like a configuration problem with USB host controller could be wrong!

are any of them powered by the USB? One might be sucking the power and the other is not getting any.
