my daughter loves frogs and she is always begging me to get her one. the average price at the pet store here starts at 60 dollars. of course i am not gonna spend that kind of money on a frog for a 3 years old. so i am wondering what are the perfect conditiond and areas to catch a frog. ?

For toads, go out after dark. Hang around a light long enough and one will show up.

For frogs, check the yard after a rain. They seem to be the most prevalant then.

A toad will be much easier to catch than a frog. Keep in mind, though, they pee as soon as they're picked up. Gloves will help.

Good luck!

In a swampy or wetland area, near a lake or river bed. The absolute best time is just after a rain in the early morning or at dusk.

Make sure to do a Yahoo or Google Search to make sure that your new little friend will survive captivity. Good luck.

I wouldn't recommend catching a wild frog and keeping it as a pet...it's can be difficult for them to get used to their new environment and they often die....which would be very upsetting for your daughter. You may want to do some research so that you can find out which type will live the longest and is hearty.

The best idea is to go to your neighborhood witch and ask her for one they have 1000's of them. Usually though you can catch toads after it rains but they only life in forested areas.

At dusk, especially in warm, damp areas. Under tall grass in the shade, places like that.

Early in the morning at the pond, or where ever they go fishing.

I've noticed that they come out around sunset espicially if it's just rained.
