Yes, fenugreek is a very commonly used herb for increasing supply. The normal dosage is 2-3 capsules 3 times per day. You will begin to smell like maple syrup if you are taking enough. There are some people who should NOT take fenugreek, so be sure to read the link below to find out if you have any of the conditions that make it a bad idea.

That said.....the very best way to increase supply is to nurse or pump more often. Herbs can help, but if you are not nursing or pumping often enough, then herbs won't do the job. More frequent nursing/pumping sessions is more effective than longer nursing/pumping sessions when it comes to boosting supply.

I tried Fenugreek and had no luck. I wound up having to go to my doctor for a dose of reglan to increase my supply. My son is 7 months old though and I am still nursing.
My LC also recommended to use a pump after feedings for 5 minutes or so to make sure each breast is empty, and encourage more production.

I used fenugreek and I loved it! When I had my daughter, I was on so much pain medicene (I had a c-section) that is stopped my milk from letting down. I was barley producing milk! My ob/gyn suggested taking fenugreek and Mother Milk Tea and within a week my milk let down and I was able to breastfed properly! I would highly reccomend!!

Yes, I did with my first and it worked, along with nursing as much as possible. I did not experience any of the maple syrup smell side effect that it's supposed to have. There are really no side effects. Good luck and enjoy nursing your baby!
