he gets home at 4pm and I have dealt with the kids, dogs, house and errands, I hate spending another hour cooking, I'll mow the yard, pick up the dog poop, take the trash out, whatever just not cook a big meal, i'll do betty crocker all included in a box ready in 25 minutes, he wants baked chicken, mashed potatoes veggies and dinner rolls, then after 10 minutes everyone is done and I have a ton of dishes? so i dont get a break until 6pm when i have to start getting the kids ready for school. so there goes my break, then its 8pm and bedtime, and then i get ready to do it all over again..

Hon, go the easier route, it's called a "Crock Pot"
All you do is simply put in the ingrediants, which takes usually all of 5-10 minutes. You can even get the kids to help out with this small part. Then plug in your crock pot, cover with the lid, and let it cook while you're doing other things. Heck, I even turn my on to cook while I sleep at night. I merely put it on slow and wake up to a nice smell in the kitchen.

What you can cook in a crock pot is only limited to your own imagination. There is a book called "Fix It And Forget It" which has all kinds of crock pot recipes in it, from your usual roast beef and potatoes to a homemade cobbler and other deserts. I've even seen breakfast recipes.

Hate peeling potatoes? So do I. Just get yourself a box of Hamburger Helper's "Potatoe Helper" and use the dehydrated potatoes out of that. Or even a cheaper box that has dehydrated potatos. Or, can always leave the skin on the potatoes. I do that too and they mash up just as nice.

I also get a package of frozen califlower and unthaw that in a pot with a little water. Then put it in the blender with a little salt, pepper, milk and butter and whip it up. Use a little extra milk if it doesn't whip up great. Then I merely rinse out my blender and it's all set to go again. And they taste like mashed potatoes. It's almost hard for me to tell the difference. (potatoe allergy here).

Another trick is if you're baking something line the pan with Parchment Paper. You can find that in the cooking section of your store where the foil and plastic wrap is. I use it when I'm baking on a cookie sheet or I line my pans with it to make a cake, or whatever else I'm baking. Things don't stick to it like they do foil. And if they do, you merely peel off the backing without a problem.

Also, for homemade rolls, get yourself an inexpensive breadmaker. You can usually find a good one at yard sells too. (have a friend keep an eye out for a cheap one for you). All you do is pour in the ingrediants (or a premade bread mix you can buy in the store), add the liquid, it mixes it up for you and even bakes it. All you do is merely wipe out the non-stick pan.

As for dishes you can always go "throwaway" style. A dishwasher if you have one, is great to have. You can buy a small one that just hooks up to your sink. If hubby says it can be done by hand, a good argument is that it disinfects the dishes better than by hand. Before I moved here to where I live, I had no dishwasher. When my son got Strep Throat, it would happen more than once. And I did put a small capfull of clorax in the water, but sometimes even that wasn't enough to kill off everything.

You get easy cooking, less work for you, a good sized family meal, easier clean up,and hubby gets his home cooked meal. Everyone's happy. (a crock put cleans up great in a dishwasher or simply buy the new crockput liners that when done all you do is toss)

There are crockpots that have two or more compartments to cook more than one food at a time. If you need different foods cooked together you can buy smaller crockpots. Everything cooked and ready at the same time.

Also, what I do is cook up meals and simply freeze them in containers that can be put in the oven or microwave. Simple and quick.

Here's some links to get you going.

Take turns making the meals than ~ he eats the meals also - he can help cook! or one of you cook the meal and let the kids (if old enough) help with dishes and clean up - it should be a family involvement.

do you work outside the home? if not then i think you should cook and clean...i do..i enjoy it...if the dog is too much get rid of it make life simplier by having him mow the lawn on the weekends or splitting the chores on the weekends...dont expect him to do too much on the weekdays when he works his butt off. he can help with the baths and school homework when he gets home so maybe you can get a break every now and then.. basically simplify things

get him off the lazy boy and take his place, or let the yard go to pot...make him do something, your working your *** off....and it does look like a NICE ***, but still...he should pitch in!!

good luck to you!

you can also get the kids trained to do some of the easier choirs for you too.
