Depending on the region and your experience, I would say the average starting pay is around $30,000. If you continue your education, your pay will go up. Many schools are even starting to require their teachers to continue school part time to obtain their masters degree. The high end of teacher salaries is around $45,000.

The average pay of teachers throughout the country is around $45,000 (no, I'm not kidding; you can look it up) but one would imagine that it would be slightly lower in elementary school.
It will also vary greatly from state to state. Teachers in CA, IL, and MI and similar states tend to have average salaries over $50K, while smaller states are down in the mid-to-high $30K range.

It varies from district to district. In Catholic school, it would be no higher than maybe $29,000 a year. In Philadelphia, when I left, I was making about $62,??? a year after 14 years of experience. The benefits were much better, too. In the suburbs, it will be higher. It will be different, though, in other areas of the country. I understand the South tends to be lower.

It varies greatly from region to region depending on the cost of living in the area. I earn about $60,000 a year (9th year teaching) but live in an area where the average house costs over $700,000. Others earn half my amount but the average house costs $150,000.
