Slaves were always treated inhumanely - throughout history - throughout the world.

I never heard any reports of slaves being burned alive, but we have all heard reports of beating and other harsh treatment.

Supposedly the slaves were treated the way they were because they were thought of as animals, not people. This still doesn't make any sense to me as I would not treat an animal this way either.

Slavery is our darkest hour. It is horrifying that people could and did treat other people this way. It is horrifying that people actually owned other people.

Slaves were an investment in property needed to work. Unless they revolted (Killed their master etc) or some other serious crime, they wouldn;'t be burned. You do know that in EARLY colonies all the slaves were white. It wasn't until the King of Benin (Black African King) offered to trade slaves for trade good to Dutch traders did black slaves start coming to the colonies.

quite some the slave commerce established round the spanish. some brit merchants might want to commerce them off to the Spanish who wewre already in N. u . s .. The e book I examine claimed they could capture undesirable tribes adult men like cannibles. for sure later even as the colonies were taking structure - yet that wasn't strictly British. So plenty continues to be unsaid, in spite of the undeniable fact that it fairly is wise unfortunatly.

Because blacks were seen as animals; sub-human. That's why they were sold & traded as well. A very sad and disgusting part of American history.
