Do people envy their lives?

I'm not one of them. I could really care less about celebrities and it bugs me that so many people are obsessed with them. I theorize that those people don't develop their own lives and instead have to follow others' lives and fantasize that they are them or could live like them. Kind of like living out their lives through them. In the process they are missing out on living more of their own lives. I think it is really stupid!

I think it's because to see them on TV they seem perfect, flawless. People believe everything they see & long to find their deep secrets as to what it is that makes celebrities look & be so perfect.
SOME not all people are lonely & don't have much going on in their lives & by welcoming a show into their living rooms each week they almost have a sense of bond there with these TV personalities.
There's a connection for these people even if just for that hour or so, to them it's real, they feel they know these celebrities.

I think envy does play into in a way. These people are living the life of glamour. Many of us wish that we could be famous for something one day, but since that may or may not happen, many people become interested in other famous people. They can watch them in movies, on TV, get pictures on the web, and read about them in magazines. On top of that, do not ever underestimate the power of women who love to gossip. I have one in my office who admittedly loves to gossip and wants to know everyone elses business. It is the one area that people are allowed to be nosy with no guilt.

If you're own life is empty and meaningless then you might fantasise about someone whose life seems to have meaning and purpose. In reality however many celebrities have extremely empty and lonely lives.

Ignorance and those that won't get up off their fannies to do something for themselves because they're too busy daydreaming and wishing their lives away.
