Some time ago I found a site with a list of 800-1000 words, and it was supposed that if you learned these words in any language, it was enough to fairly understand and make yourself understood in any language. But I cannot find that site anymore. I remember that the list started with: a, able, about . .. Any help?

Just to clarify: you have to learn these 800-1000 in whatever language you want to communicate.
