If you are ripping videos or playing games, then the dual core will give you a large improvement over single cores.

I upgrated one of my computers to Pentium D 915 2.8ghz. I have converted video format from AVI to mpeg2 using this chip and it is a large improvement from my other computer with Pentium 4 2.66ghz. It will not freeze up while converting videos.

There is no noticeable difference at regular tasks like emails. Pentium D series are very cheap alternative to AMD Athelon or Intel Core Duo.

My only regret is that I should have spent a little more and have gotten Pentium D 950 3.4ghz instead.

Except for playing 3d gaming, getting new video cards probably will not get you better performances.

Each individual application will have a minimum required system listed on the box or at their website. Some go further and put a desired or optimum system requirements list as well. Check each software app and see what they have in their list. Software will adapt and take advantage of the dual core in time. If you get it, it will be compatible with your software today and work with the newer versions as they come out.

If use dual core, all apart from gaming will improve.
Also, if you are burning DVDs, it won't help, unless you are writing a disc image first to hdd.

Games at present do not use the second processor... if at all.
But some apps as well do not use the second core, but that is starting to change over time...

Wow. you will desire to truly quit attempting to do lots of something with pc hardware. you have not any thought what the hell you're doing. enable us to count selection the processes... a million. The Radeon 5450 is a backside-end piece of crap. in case you think of it fairly is by some capacity a quickly video card then you certainly're a bloody retard. 2. in case you paid $one hundred sixty for at ANY component in time then you certainly're a bloody retard. 3. the quantity of RAM on the video card capacity very almost not something in terms of overall performance exterior of specific circumstances. Low-end enjoying cards like the 5450? It makes no distinction in case you have 1GB or 2GB. once you're measuring video card overall performance per RAM on my own then you certainly're a bloody retard. 4. The e5200 is outdated and mediocre at merely right via cutting-component standards. Upgrading to a Wolfdale (e7000 or e8000 sequence) is merely going to do lots. it is not nicely worth it. you're caught with a lifeless socket and could pay over $a hundred for what could volume to a marginal improve in overall performance, regardless of a good video card. i'm exceedingly much hoping which you're purely a troll. in any different case i've got faith sorry for you.
