I'm in the planning stages for my Christmas window , and was wondering what would make you take a second look. (Florist) Please no rude ideas. Thanks

I like to look at lights most of all.

The coolest display I've ever seen had that loose snow on the ground and a small fan or two pointing to the ground. It made the loose snow fly up and all around the window like a blizzard. That plus some blue/white/blinking lights would be SO eye catching.

*Edit*
I like that idea about the different around the world santas too. If you could put a little picture/doll up and a story under it, I'd stop and read all the different fables. It'd create a reason for traffic to slow down in front of your window and then other people would come by to see what others were looking at. (The Iclandic lads are really interesting!)

I think you should make it look like a winter scene using all white and icy blue backgrounds and props. If you are a florist, you can then display some colorful red and green plants like pointsettas. They will really pop. I also like the white christmas lights - you could fram the window with them.

The type of display that catches my eye is one that takes me back to a time when I was a child. My most fond memories of Christmas past are the fuel that makes me want to spend money in Christmas present, to attempt to make the current holiday as wonderful for my grandchildren as past holidays were for me. Anything nostalgic.

I love an old fashioned scene, with a fireplace and real christmas tree, an old armchair with a stuffed toy on it, some wrapped presents, or an outside scene, with a father christmas going down a chimney and lots of snow, maybe a snowman, an old sleigh nearby, now my immagination is running wild. And lots of twinkling lights.

I really like the old time, multicolored light strings with the big bulbs. I also like the tiny lights if they are all one color.

A balanced display that's tastefully done will catch my eye as well. Nothing garish or overwhelming. Something that looks as if it could be a Christmas card.

Anything bright with rich colors would catch my eye.

Deep red roses mixed with bright white roses would be lovely. You could include gold accents in the display too. You might also consider using colors for people who celebrate holidays other than Christmas. (Hanukkah colors are yellow and blue. Not sure about Kwanzaa colors).

I love a beautiful Christmas tree and sleigh, maybe some fake snow, with this hot summer anything cool will get them excited about the holidays

since you're a florist, you could use mini Christmas trees with white twinkle lights, lots of poinsettias, and maybe some examples of holiday gift arrangements that you do.
