Why lie and continue to lie when the lie is so obvious?

I dont Know but we Had One at Work that would Rather Climb aTree to tell you a lie than Stand on the Ground. No matter what You did he would have done one better.
I set up a Question with a friend one day JUST to see what "STRETCH" (our nicname for him because of his lies). I said To My Friend, Hey Bret ..Whats the Fastest you ever went in a car?
Bret said .... Oh Probably about 110 in a Mustang. I say to Bret ... Yeah I went 120 in my uncles Road Runner once.
I look at Stretch and ask him ...... and Without batting an Eye he says
" I did 198 in a Rocket Car in the Quarter Mile" ROFLMAO!!!
ANd Beleive me .... He had Many Others That were JUST as Bad..... Such as he would have won the NY Lottery but he forgot to play his numbers that day. How he owned an ittalian restaurant ..... had a camaro in his garage that he had $150 thousands dollars in it .... even though it wasnt even half finished lmao .....
Kind to think of it ...We sort of Miss him lmao

Some people always lie. It is not even obvious to them. They are in a world of their own and as the days go on, they increase the lie to greater proportions and eventually convince themselves of what they are saying is true. It no longer is a lie in their world. They also like to have someone as a backup to verify their stories and convince themselves easier that way. It's called a chronic liar and sociopath.I personally know someone like that and he has been that way since he was a young child. Sad...

A lot of people lie, because they do not want to face reality, sometimes it is a problem that they have, and they need to work on it, it has been said a liar is worst than a thief, because if a thief is coming to your home, you can put your valuables away, but if a thief comes, you do not know what lie she is going to come with, or go with.

Don't ya hate that. Some people are just total bull shitters, they like to make there self look good and can not see that most people eventually see them for what they are. The problem is that most people do not call them on it, they just shake their heads and go on.

If the people that were telling the lie really knew what people thought about them, they would probably stop, don't ya think?

Tell the same lie long enough and someone other than you might think it's true. You might think it's true also.
You might not be sure it's true, or know it's untrue, but be unsure of what is true.

We have a family member that is so bad about this. He is getting
worse as the years go by. He lies about things that we all know
are untrue, but that doesn't stop him . We ask why does he do
this, does he really believe it , or has it just become a way of life
for him? He lies about his education, which he doesn't have. He lies about his service in the army. He got a non- honorable discharge and still brags about all the things he did! We have all
decided that we just have to live with it, but it's frustrating!

Then it becomes a matter of pride. The liar doesn't want to admit he's been lying because he's too proud and lacks humility. He feels like he has to stick to his story no matter what instead of admitting his lie and apologizing.
