My son had the same problems as your son does. And I changed his formula to enfamil a/r lipil. It is a life saver for him. He no longer has runny stools nor does he spit up. Hope that this helps.

If your doctor put him on the soy formula, you should stick to it. Most all babies spit up until they are about a year old. If you wish to keep him on the milk-based formula, you can try putting baby oatmeal or rice into his bottle. It may help with the watery poop. On the other hand it does sound like it is an allergic reaction to the milk-based. Even with the soy, to help keep it down, you could try the oatmeal or rice in the bottle. I was told that at 6 months it was alright to start feeding the baby semi solid foods, and they may be what he needs to stop spitting up his food.

I'd go back to the soy. Spitting up is better than diarrhea. Diarrhea is a common sign of a milk intolerance. I think that milk and soy are your only choices. If you want to keep trying milk based ones there are some versions where the milk protein is broken down much more than in normal formulas. I don't remember the names...the containers would advertise that feature....but it really sounds like he has a milk allergy or intolerance.

When you say he spits up...like throws the whole lot back up, or just little bits? Cos seriously lots of babies do that. If it's bad, try different brand. Especially one for babies with reflux. It's a bit more 'solid' and it helps a bit with vomit-y babies. Should help with the spitting. If it's not doing well, speak to a nurse before you go back to a doctor. Child health nurses TEND to be a lot more practical about these things

My Son was not spitting up but, throwing up non stop, we finally figured out that he is allergic to Milk. My Dr gave us Simaliac Alimentum. It has milk in it but it is broken down so much that my son doesn't have any reactions. But, please be prepared to pay alot! 1 bottle of ready to feed (thats the only one my son can have) is $8.49 a bottle and thats the cheapest we have found.
Good Luck
