well since you are a beginner, any of the windows applications are user friendly. my choice would be windows XP. The OS has many teaching tutorials that will guide you along your path to learning. I might also suggest that you purchase a book entitled windows XP for dummies. I am in no way calling anyone dumb, that's just what the series of books are called. Feel free to IM me if u need help with anything and best of luck!

I would recommend Windows XP, Home Edition. Easy to use and very user friendly.

every OS comes with a learning curve and I can only recommend one based on how you plan to use your computer.
- If all you plan to do is to browse the net, listen to music, play games and check mails, go ahead with windows. However, please install a good firewall, anti virus and anti-spyware softwares.
- If you plan to mess around with the OS, learn some coding etc, use linux. You can pick almost any of Fedora, Suse, Mandrake, Debian etc You however need to be prepared to do a lot of reading up and experimenting for these.
- there are other choices for you like BSD, Solaris, MacOS etc, but I dont think you need to worry about them right now.

Probably Windows XP but it may also depend on where you want your beginners to get to. Using Linux and Unix isnt all that difficult either. But Windows is probably more widely used.

i'm at the instant doing a working laptop or computer technological know-how degree, and that i've got 2 modules in arithmetic alongside the computing ones. the math you will desire to do isn't too frustrating to be common! there is obviously the basics consisting of binary, hexadecimal, and a small little bit of octal(!), those are for glaring reasons by using fact it relatively is how a working laptop or computer operates. there is likewise a significant area in differentiation and integration (i won't have the ability to keep in mind what for), there's a significant area, additionally, in information (for networking, the probabilities of a community happening and so on.). till now I went to college, I had a B in arithmetic at GCSE, I carried out a BTEC nationwide degree in ICT (which taught me little maths), then went to uni and that's the place i'm now (doing my exams contained in the 1st twelve months), i've got at the instant found out the math required now, i'm merely being examined on it. My suggestion: choose for it; the worst that would desire to happen is after one twelve months (or perhaps interior the 1st few weeks of the course in case you sense you're that undesirable at it), in case you sense you're failing, you could substitute course (to perhaps a working laptop or computer technological know-how appropriate degree, that's no longer so heavy on the computing and maths area (perhaps company Computing).
