You need to open your mind up to the world and see the big picture. Just because you can't see yourself doing it doesn't mean it isn't a very necessary part of our lives. Imagine if a loved one of yours died. Lots of things need to be done to prepare them for their final resting place. Would you not want them to be treated with love, dignity and respect?
What do you do for a living? I bet there are many people in the world who couldn't imagine doing what you do. And that is OK. Don't be so small minded. Not everyone has a warped sense about death and dying. And by the way, many funeral homes are run by the same families for generations.

What a question. you've obviously never had anyone close to you die, i've had a few close friends and more recently my sister die and without the support and help from the people in the funeral parlours i don't know what we'd of done. they were the most kind people i've ever met and don't think it doesn't effect them the man at my sisters parlour cried looking at my sister and he's been doing that job for over 30 years. so my advise to you is grow up and stop being so small minded and hope you don't ever need the help of such people.

Of course they're normal. If you're going to class them as abnormal why don't we stop them from working in funeral parlours and see how you long you can stand the piles of bodies clogging up our streets (obviously the bodies would have to go in the street what with the funeral parlours closed down because of all the abnormal workers).

For people who are skilled at caring for others, working in a funeral parlour isn't weird at all. Imagine knowing you are responsible forr making a horrible time a little easier fo a family. I think it would be a very fulfilling job, so yes they are very normal. A small joke? Undertaker services will always be in demand.

My father in law is a funeral director and he's fairly normal (although define normal! lol). Regarding an earlier comment the money isn't actually that great!
Gotta be better than working with the general public as at least they can't answer back or generally irritate ;o)

Morticians I've known are a little different. Night attendants are generally just looking for inexpensive living arrangements (seen some very nice apartments in the older funeral homes).

I would love a job like that. And I'm not big on the whole death thing, but I love the paranormal and would hope to see ghosts. And I love halloween and would feel like I'm in a haunted house. And it wouldn't really bother me if the salary was decent. It's all about salary. I could even eat at a table two feet away from a corpse, it wouldn't bother me. The body is only a vehicle for the soul afterall. It all depends on how you look at it, maybe?

Of course they are normal. They just grasp the ideas of life and death a little better. It all depends on how you look at it.
They just deal with cold heavy bodies. Doctors put their hands in bodies ewwww.
I could probably do it. I look at a dead body as just a used vessel for a wonderful soul which is the importnat part of a person. So its like dumping a used car 6 feet under. :-P

Yes I think they are normal. Someone has to do that job. What about people that work as trash men, janitors, etc....some may think they have crappy jobs. But someone has to do them all. If you think working at a funeral home is wierd then you shouldn't do it, but some people are not wierded out by it.
