When Ennis found out about how Jack got killed, why did it show him being murdered? Did Jack really die like his wife said he did?

No Jack got murdered by people who found out him being gay. Whether or not his wife nows how he really died I dont know.

As she was telling him how he died, the director played out his murder to show you what REALLY happened to him, and Ennis figured it out... i believe because in the beginning of the film he told Jack how a guy was murdered for being gay, and Jack died the same way.... thats why Ennis knew what really happened... the murderers used the same technique to kill Jack.
His wife, on the other hand, doesn't know that thats the way he died... at least to the best of my knowledge.

I think Jack went to Mexico, which Ennis hated him doing. He was probably looking for a male prostitute, went off with these guys, and they killed him instead. The wife probably knew, but lied out of embarrassment.

Never stated for sure, of course, so you can believe whatever you like. But I think the implication is that Jack was murdered, and Ennis had to live with that torturing his soul as well. The social commentary is exclamated with his death as well.

That's how Jack died. Some people think that the wife knew about Jack and Ennis and she sent those guys to kill him. I don't know about that, but I'm thinking that she told her dad(since he didn't like Jack to begin with), and HE sent those guys to kill him. Just my two cents! :-)

Ennis thinks that's what happened; remember when he was little there was a gay guy that had been killed in that manner, and his father made him go and look at it. So yes, that scene is in Ennis' head, but it's very heavily implied that really, that's what happened.

Yes, It was showing how he really did die and that she was lieing to Ennis and if you watch it again her face and actions make it seem she knew him and Jack were lovers...I loved that movie watch it over 20 times!!!
