AP means "Advanced Placement" . Courses with that designation have college level content, and you take a standardized test at the end of the course. Many colleges will accept them for credit against basic freshman requirements in the subject. (A good score on the AP English test, for example, may get you credit for Freshman Composition or Rhetoric courses at college.) Honors courses are similar, but are not designed to a model generally accepted by colleges. They may give you enough background to test out of certain college level basic requirements if that is an option at the college you choose to attend, and they certainly look good on your record if you do well in them.

AP is Advanced Placement. They are very difficult classes (trust me I took one) At the end of the course you take and AP test and if you score a 3-5 you will get the college credit. If not then tough luck you will have to take it in college. Also on your gpa the grades are weighted. Instead of A-4 B-3 C-2 D-1 F-0 it is A-5 B-4 C-3 D-2 F-0. Honors courses have no test at the end for a college credit and they are only weighted a half instead of a full point. Also they are a lot easier.

AP are college courses in different subject areas such as math, science, etc. that kids take in high school which give them high school credit They take AP test and they score from a 1 to a 5. A score from 3 to 5 is good. AP is higher than Honors classes.
Honors courses are for very bright students and can lead to taking AP classes. Honors are advanced classes. Honors classes look very good to colleges as do AP classes. They are more likely to accept you for high grades than if you took regular classes in high school and got high grades.
