People still have not changed in their views in the past 2,000 years. People will insult you if you come up with an ideal that does not fit with their perceptions of the truth. Galileo was imprisioned and tortured because of his belief that the Earth orbited the sun, not the views of the Catholic church which stated that the planets and the sun orbited the center of the universe (Earth).
As is some countries - if you think of another view other than the poliitcal view - you could be executed or imprisioned for life. Don't think free speech is universal everywhere. The Peoples Republic of China - will imprisioned you and your family if you think of anything other than the Party line. That's just one example among many countries on Earth.

I wonder about that quite a bit. All throughout history the adventurers, inventors, and scientists were all laughed at and mocked. Theses are the people that have discovered the truth and changed our lives forever. Who are we laughing at or mocking these days? It definitely relates pretty well to what we are experiencing today. I wonder why so many people are terrified of learning or exposing the truth.

This is clearly happening today with things like stem cell research. We cannot do that kind of research because of the "sanctity of life...life is precious"
Haha...sure thats why we kill innocent people that are actually alive (not balls of cells) in Iraq and all over the world every single day.
You can't make an omlette without breaking some eggs.

Abuse? the guy who tried to convince the church authorities that the world was in fact round had to spend the rest of his life on house-arrest! It shows how threatened many christians are by science, even today. Muslims are even worse, they were at the forefront of science until Islam spread.

People are no doubt still the same! People in general terms support what ever they feel is general point of view and mock anything else.

Huh, yeah, even in this day and time it's almost impossible to convince the left that we really have enemies...or should I say that we have enemies that aren't George W. Bush's fault...IGNORANCE MUST BE HEAVEN.
