If the old computer has a CD and/or DVD burner, copy the files on a disc. If you have a USB memory stick and can fit all your files, transfer them on it. That way, when your new computer is set-up with the IPOD library, just transfer or synchronized your files back to the library.

The songs will still be physically on your parent's PC's hard drive. If they will all fit onto your ipod you can put them on there, then copy them onto the hard drive of your new PC. It will be easier to use it as a removable drive because if you add the songs as though you're going to play them on your ipod you will need a small program to be able to read them.

Alternatively, burn the songs to CD or DVD to copy to your new PC, or get the PCs together so you can network them and copy the files over, or put both hard drives in the same PC and copy them across.

The same thing happened to my brother, you can keep all the songs there if you update it manually, but if you want it auto, you'll have to get a new library, and all the songs in your Ipod will be deleted.

First you will ought to have iTunes loaded onto your pc, and the iPod will ought to be related to that pc besides. If that is correct set up, and you have not any music loaded into your iTunes, that is going to delete the music on your iPod.

Get PodUtil its a nice little program that will copy your files onto the new computer for you. It will also organize them and rebuild your Itunes play lists. Its easy to use and works great.
