you must know what is booting. and how a computer starts..

booting is the process when operating system is loaded into the comupters memory ie RAM.

Now the problem was..
How ROM come to know about it that where is operating system stored? this was a greate problem and solution was store it in 0th track of the disk.

Operating system is stored in 0th track of the disk. which is required to boot the computer. Hence this track is known as boot track. A track is consist of sector. Those sectors are known as boot sectors........
