44.00

Always round up for withdrawels and down for deposits. This way you'll always have a + balance.

$44.00

I heard a story once about this. Seems an accountant was married to an artist. She kept the family checkbook. Once he retired he took over this task. And was HORRIFIED to discover that she never wrote the true amounts of the checks in - just rounded up or down to the nearest dollar. He began to go back in time (like 30-40 years!) and brought the record current using the exact dollar figures of every check. The new balance he arrived at was within pennies of the balance she had!!!

True story? I don't know. But I can see it being possible.

Another method I've heard is to always round up to the next dollar - this way you build some "savings" into your account.

What quick method?

43.75 takes as long to write a 44.00 as 4.444!

If you refer to 'rounding off' then it is stated that amounts above .50 are rounded up and below .50 rounded down.
