When I go on a trip it seems to take a long time to reach my destination but the homeward journey seems to go much quicker.

I think it's the anticipation of where you're going to, and if it's the first time going there it's the unknown drive / journey - but coming home you know what to expect.

In my experience, I find a journey to somewhere I have not been before seems to take longer as you are concentrating on where your going, and may be worrying about what happens when you arrive, example, a job interview. This makes you, if driving yourself, more cautious and drive slower, taking in as much information as you can about the journey. I also tend to have more stress on an outward journey, going to a place I may not know. However, as a driver of over thirty two years, even an out bound route that I know well, always seems to take a long time. And let's be fair, the journey home is always best, because we are going home to our loved ones, and our own environment.

I totally agree with you When you've booked your trip
it seems much longer than it really is to actually set off on your trip and reach the destination .
And if for instance you are going away for 14days the
first week goes by quite slowly but the second week just
flies by .And almost before you know it your back home and back to work .
It is whats known as Sod,s law .

Because the outward journey is unknown,whereas the return trip is then familiar to you

I think it is that going home means it is coming to a close whereas going you are anticipating and cannot wait to get started

because u cant wait to get home to relax, u miss your own bed and comfort or your own home, so its like a rushed journey...
