I watched a programme on channel 4 telling us that some people lied about loved ones dying in the atrocity and receiving compensation. How could anyone so heartless?

Once person tried to use it to cover his tracks and disappear, a few dozen others said they had family there. I don;t think its heartless as much as that a lot of people saw this as a lottery and wanted in on some cash.
I agree its despicable, like the few dozen scam artists who were taking advantage of kindhearted people by claiming to be victims of Katrina. Americans are the most charitable in the world, so there will always be that small percentage that try to take advantage of the generosity.

More than a 300 I bet. Humans can be the greates people or the most debauched. Its like during the Tsunami when all the pedophiles and pvssy pushers ran to the area kidnapping orphaned children into the sex trade. some people are just sick.

Some people are so heartless they have know idea the hurt they are causing people. They deserve to get the jail sentence that was given to them. They were the ones who were caught just how many more were there??

It seems there are professional cheaters out there indulging in such shameful acts as, apart from 9-11, you may have heard of similar cheating in New Orleans as well after the Katrina aftermath!

They live in an ultra-capitalist society,where people are allowed to suffer agonies & even die,if they can't afford to pay for treatment,so i'm not too surprised to learn that some of them will grab what they can,no matter how despicable their actions may be.To them money is God.America is the richest country in history,yet there are thousands of people rummaging through bins searching for food.God Bless America?

I also watched that, it concerns me that people would be so cruel to play with people's emotions like that-esp the guy who made up the story about his sister dying and a neice being left with no-one.
What a sad life they must lead to have to go to such extreme lengths to get attention.

Because they are sad people who are desperate for any attention, and so use a stupid lie to get sympathy from people.
Some people said their loved ones were in the tsunami, or the bombings in London...its disgusting and they take away the sympathy from the real people who are suffering.

the people who did lie about it are total scum and no better than ther terrorists themselves how cud they use others tragedy to gain for themselves it makes me laff cus people who were genuinly effected are still waiting for compensation but then again is money no matter how much worth the life of a loved 1

In my opinion, they're not heartless, just practical. They know welfare's on its way so better grab the chance. They're not hearltess but they are shameless. Probably never had it in their curriculum.

They werent even ashamed of what they had done!
Dont know what kind of mind thinks up things like that - that
