what does CE mean in Islamic dates?

C.E. = Common Era
B.C.E. = Before the common era

They use this (Judaism also) because the usual B.C. means Before Christ and A.D. means Anno Domimi (In the year of our Lord). But the numbers are the same, so now it's 2006 C.E.
