Here's the thing. One of my best friends from a different college is visiting me, or did, this past weekend. He needed to check his e-mail, something urgent, he said. But since he doesn't belong to my school, he didn't have a username and password to access the Internet. He called me up when he was in the computing lab, asking for my password, so he can use it for a while. I trust him, I do, he's my best friend, but I didn't at the end. Would you ever give out your password to a (best) friend? A school's password? Of course, not like PIN numbers or bank passwords, but just so he could check e-mail?

I would not because it is just too dangerous, even if you trust him. He might do something without even knowing it is a TOS violation, and you would be responsible for it. It is also a TOS violation for you to even give it to him and allowing him access to the school's system because he is not a student.
I think you did the right thing and I am sure he understands, even if he was a bit upset with you at the time.

peace

If I were you I wouldn't give the password to him. Because he could do a whole lot mess something up on your password or something. For example( He could hack in and change the password, or he could delete everything on it and you would have to find a way to get it back.) It's kind of like your bank pin and other Social sec. So I wouldn't give it to him.

I would trust my best friend. She knows all of my passwords, and I just trust her with it. It's not like she will vandalise your account. If they are a real friend, you would not even be asking this. Ask yourself instead - you will get the answer there. In this case, the heart should be telling you what to do.

I would let him have it if it was just to check his email. I would not give them my bank pin or something like that. The only person who knows my bank pin is my mother and my sister in case of emergency.

:P yeah.. properly no longer relatively. that's my friends account yet she gave me the password and enable me go on it. i'm relatively bored so yeah. there is relatively no reason to be scared to grant it to others.. as long as you're close with the chum your gonna provide the password to. No concerns.
