Try to feel your heart beat. If you lie still you can feel it moving and it is soothing and rhythmic...that helps me. Give it a try!

Yes - which ever side you sleep best on, place an in-ear headphone in the opposite one and plug it in to some classical music (the more mellow the better - one of those Classic Love type CDs is best). You will be gone by track 2 ;-)

I also read recently that the body naturally slows down after a big meal (for a very sound scientific reason which I forget) - I know your mom always told you not to go to bed on a full stomach - but maybe she was wrong!

The best is to put the tv on a sleep timer, say about 30 mins, then leave it on and you will fall asleep. The movement on the tv will make your eyes dreary and you will fall asleep eventually. Then the tv will shut off automatically so you dont have to worry to turn it off. Cheers.

Make yourself do alot of things during the day... keep busy with your mind and body... by the end of the day you'll be very tired and... fall asleep fast!!!! This way is good and natural.... we need rest after hard work....

I always fall to sleep fastest as well as sleep the most sound when I take a warm shower or bath, put on comfy pjs, have a warm cup of tea, turn the lights down low and totally relax.

Unfortunately, a seriously hard punch to the face will knock you out immediately or if you drink alcahol quickly & get real drunk you will fall asleep soon. You can only imagint the side-effects of both.. ouch!!

It helps me to count backwards from 1000. I close my eyes and picture writing each number on a chalkboard or on a wall with my finger. One number for each breath. I'm usually asleep before I hit 950

Sleepy Time Tea.. with a spoonful of honey. Then when you're done lay down and close your eyes.. Picture a black hole swirling... imagine all your stress from the day being sucked up into it and you should relax enough to zonk out.

In the short term, 3 pints are helpful in sending you to sleep, not good in long term as you'll get addicted (not that i am. cough cough.) Good way i think is to not go to bed until you're good and tired
