Do what's best for you and your kids. Stay strong and accept all the help you can get!! I'll be praying for you! Don't pay any attention to the losers who can't muster up any support. You need people to stand with you on whatever decision you make.

First things first. Why do you want a divorce?
1. Get a job
2. Once self supportive - discuss divorce with Husband
3. Hire a lawyer
4. Move out.
You can not expect him to support you after you divorce him, and you can not raise small children without money.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
Divorce is really hard on small kids..

Just make sure you have thought this out completely, I seperated from my wife because we lived with my mother in law who was causing alot of problems and after I left realize that I love my wife and now she wants nothing to do with me, you cannot realize the pain of starting a ball rolling and not being able to stop it, and you say you have kids, even on days when I do not miss having to go home to my wife and mother in law I miss my kids terribly. Have you talked to your spouse and let him know how you feel? Maybe you can work something out, but if not again just make sure it is 100% what you want before you do it.

Actually you =can= expect him to support his kids, and you may be able to get alimony or spousal support, especially if you're a stay at home mom. (or at least have the court award you $, if he has a good job its pretty easy to garnish his wages if he chooses not to pay, but if he works for cash or under the table, you'll have little recourse if he decides not to pay)
We need to know what state you live and some more details...state divorce laws vary greatly.

I pray for you, I really hope that you're not being abused. If you are contact your authorities. First off you might want to get a job and know that you can support your children without your husbands income. Then sit down and go over your new income and work out a budget (Will you have to move? Rent? how much for groceries? which bills are yours? etc...)

Go to legal aid and get a job. Child support should help pay for childcare for your youngest and I am assuming the other one is in school. You cant stay at home and expect handouts.

Get a lawyer. Prepare financially and emotionally. Divorce is quite expensive and custody battles are emotionally exhausting.
