Hi cystitis is not a urine infection as such but an imbalance in the PH of the urine causing inflammation of the bladder wall. The cure for this is not antibiotics but a simple medicine you can get at the chemist called potassium citrate (effercitrate). Drink lots of water too. Also Lemon barley water or cranberry juice will help.
Antibiotics shouldn't be prescribed unless infection has been proven.

Your doctor would know how much is needed. If you want more information on cystitis type it into your search box. You'll find enough info to make you an expert or at least answer some of your questions.
It's important with antibiotics that you take all that the doctor prescribes. If you stop taking the antibiotics because you start feeling better the infection could return with an immunity to the antibiotic.

Your doctor will now best how much antibiotic to give you. Yes, it'll kill the cystitis attack, but do be informed that having a cystitis attack also means you have an inflammation in your body, meaning your health & immunity is compromised.

This inflammation is a sign your body is telling you to take care of it, especially if it is a recurring symptom.

After treating the symptom, you might wish to relook at your lifestyle & diet. Consult a dietician or nutritionist.

You can get cystitis relief sachets from the chemist. Take some of those and drink as much water as you can get down you neck to flush your system out. Its not a bad infection so a couple of days worth of antibiotics will sort it out.

studies show that 3 days of antibiotics (6 tablets) are as effective at clearing uncomplicated lower urinary tract infection (cystitis) as longer courses. The shorter course is associated with fewer side effects.

It should be enough to sort it out, drink loads of water to flush out the bacteria and try the special sachets from the chemist.

I'll give you a great tip that really helped me:

Drink a load of cranberry juice - it really helps to cure it, I don't scientifically know why but it really clears it up!
