It all started about a month ago, previously my relationship with the people in the team was fairly cordial, we now all sit in silence, there are only three of us in the office.

Is it wrong to imagine them having horrible deaths ?

I am definitely partly responsible for this, i find their inane chatter deathly dull. They are both middle aged women, whose interests include il Devo and the Cholesterol content of avacado's. I just cannot do small talk anymore.

What have you done to try to improve the relationship with your co workers?

Keep imagining, as long as you don't act on it.

I was in a similar situation, but 3 of us were slaves to the moodiness of the 4th. Some days she was on the dark side, some days she was happy. You just didn't know which way the day was going to go until you got there...

I don't work there anymore & I feel much better (2 days unemployed! Yeah!) but I feel bad for the 2 I left behind.....

Sounds to me that you have made the fatal error of telling them to shut up about their stupid conversational topics. The fact that they have done so suggests that they are not actually bad people and should be easy to get on with. I know what you mean - I have had years of it but I simply do not join in the conversation. They won't miss your contribution or think you are being rude because they are women and would not expect you to be a participant: they know you are not interested in the latest Tesco BOGOF or the merits of underwired bras.

Your problem now is to figure out how to press the undo button.

Time to shape up or ship out. You need to find a common ground or bond with these women. You are causing discomfort and tension with them. You are the denominator here and unless you want people to report in the future that you have personalitiy conflicts...either change your job now or learn to be more friendly.

Focus on your work. Pay attention to your business attitude and get over the social aspect. You're there to do a job, not socialize. Fantasize in your head and then move on. Change your attitude to a more positve outlook. Smile.

If you're a temp - get out - if you're permanent - it might just be a 'bad patch' you're going through with them and it may subside. Failing that, find something else.

Hard to answer your question, you didnt say why you hate them so much and what caused the rift in the 1st place....and imagining is one thing, but if you act on it your going to spend the rest of your natural life behind bars!!

How did it come to this situation? Why wasn't it checked before it descended into silence? Are you all as pig-headed as each other?

SORT IT OUT.

I imagine you are working with a bunch of women- women never work together and there is always the bickering and not getting along. Your best bet is to hold your tongue and just try to get along. It never works to continue not getting along. It is sometimes better to bite the bullet and just try to get along.
