The climates are very similar in both states. Towards the southern end of each state it is dry and hot. Towards the north they each get snow.

Cost of living is much cheaper in New Mexico then in Arizona.

There is much more to do in Arizona. New Mexico is very desolate.

Arizona also has a stronger economy.

New Mexico was just selected as one of the the worst five states for education.

However, depending upon which cities you may be living in . . . this would make the biggest deciding factors. The Phoenix metroplex is nice, but so is Albuquerque . . . then again the company you work for may be out in the sticks.

I'm from New Mexico. Born and raised. I have only visited Arizona, but I would definately pick New Mexico. It is NOT nearly as hot as Arizona. I live in Albuquerque right now, and even in southern NM, it doesn't get as hot as central AZ. For example, if its 95 degrees in Albuquerque, it will be 117 in Lake Havasu City. (my in-laws live there) and 115 in Pheonix. I wouldn't say NM is desolate. I have plenty of things to do. I don't know if I will have time for the state fair because I am busy with all my other extra activities. OH! And don't forget the International Balloon Festival coming up.
Cost of living is cheaper here in NM. Traffic isn't as bad. I could go on and on.

P.S. You can't get green chile in AZ! lol

Depending on what cities you are going to be moving to. I like Las Crues New Mexico, it is a nice city clean, people are freindly and there is stuff to do, it is a college town. Arizona, the Phoenix area is very busy and a lot of pollution. We visited there and I just found it rush rush, nothing is really close to anything and everything is congested together. Of course these are just my opinoins.

neither state has much to do New mexico is cooler arizona has more history to it. Arizona is closer to cali new mexico is closer to Texas. Arizona's economy is going up fast so buying a house there might yeild in profit.

Az. is going to be more expensive but will have more to do. NM is more of an laidback state on a scale of 1-10 they both rate a 8 so It all depends on where in each state and what your likes and dislikes are. I personaly would move to AZ. just because its closer to Laughlin Nevada.
