As a nurse I can tell you that you are allowed by most insurance compaines a two day stay in the hospital if you deliver vaginally and four days if you have a cesearian. Usually there is a time limit (ie if you have your baby before 8pm that's considered one day, if it's after then that's not considered one of your two days). If there are any complications you will of course stay longer. For your emotional health, they have social workers on every maternity ward in every hospital that can help you make decisions on what kind of support you need once you get home, including a visiting nurse.

I went home 24 hours later..it was my choice. I can rest better at home then in a stuffy hospital bed and lousy food. I think some insurance companies may let you stay for 2 days if there are no complications.
Really though, if the birth went well and all is fine, there is no reason to lie around a hospital room. Childbirth is a natural thing..not an illness. Plan to have your hubby stay home a few days after you come home.

It all depends on how your delivery went and your insurance carrier...Some release you after 24 hours and others keep you anywhere from 24-72 hours for the most part. I went home 48 hours after my first and 24 hours after my last two...My deliveries were all pretty good for the most part and I delivered naturally. I was ready all three times to go home when the time came...It's normal for you to worry so much, but just relax and if you have any worries about it, talk to the doc and the nurses at the hospital. Good luck to you on your future and your little one coming!!!

It depends on how your delivery goes. If there are no complications and you don't have an episiotomy, ( where they cut the area in between your vagina and butt so that the baby can fit) then you should be able to go home after a good nights rest and lunch the next day. Of course, they will make sure you're not experiencing any post partum depression and also they should make sure that you are fully capable of getting that baby to latch on. ( Eat)

I was in the hospital for 2 days after I had my baby, but that was because I had a slight fever at the time of delivery, and they wanted to give me some anitbiotics. I also had a 3rd degree tear. It just depends on how well you and the baby are doing. Don't worry, the doctors will take care of you, it's what they're trained to do. And congratulations.

They sent me home the day after I delivered. I was scared, exhausted, and not emotionally ready. But, once I was home, I got into the routine of things VERY quickly! Being sent home early was not my choice, but rather my health insurance provider's choice. That's just the way they do things nowadays.

you should arrange to have someone home to help you the 1st few days. I was sent home with my 1st after 3 days my 2ed 3 days but, it common to go home 24 hours after delivery. My friend katie went home JUST 12 hours after her 3rd . BoTH Labors were induced i ran a fever both times it's not the norm to stay 3 days.

i think it depends on the hospital AND insurance. I was sent home 3 days after giving birth, but I was induced and had some problems with my delivery. I heard its usually a day or so after they send you home.
