There is no real scientific proof for the benefits of being right or left. I know people who are both - the two who come to mind are not creative, although they can talk forever. They are also more critical. Both those are left brain functions.
The funderstanding web site below says that lefties are more logical and righties are more intuitive.
The edu website backs up the idea, long promoted, that right brained people are more creative and left brained people are more logical.
Is either better? Maybe - but most people don't just use one side of the brain, they use both. If we only used one side, left brained people would forget your name and face as soon as you walked away, and right brained people would never be able to put together a logical speech. Both sides are needed. And left handed people, as has been pointed out to me more than once, are the only ones in their right minds (the left brain controls the right side of the body and vice versa).
From the EDU site "Individuals who are predominately left sided tend to be more verbal, analytical, and problem solvers; while individuals who are predominately right sided tend to be artsy, good with math, and are more visual" which means that left handed people are good with math......

Good question... as a "semi" left handed person, I've had to adjust to what comes natural (grasping with my left hand) with objects (manual pencil sharpeners) made for the right-handed. It's given me (and all lefties) a lifetime of practice to overcome and devise methods of resolving and finding solutions to minor inconveniences. Has it made me "more clever"? I don't know. But, I still do some things as a left-handed person while I do others as a right handed person. What would being an ambi-desterous person be... half clever? Or twice as clever?

We are clever, creative, inspired and eccentric(when we're rich, else we're just crazy). Infact left handed people are more likely to suffer from mental problems like nervous breakdowns, schizophrenia, bipolar, etc. But the number is decreasing and is just statisitical.
Creativity is our strong suite and hence eccentricity. However left handed people can generally use both hands to some extent, I for one mostly do my writing with the left. It's an awkward feel like your left hand is totally in your control and your right is only marginally so.

Right handed people. Because Irish people are also more stupid. And all Christians are ugly. HONESTLY? This has nothing to do with your smarts. Our current president is left-handed and I know a girl who is left handed (while I am right handed) and we both mastered Regents level Physics in the eight grade. There are very intelligent people of both dominant hands. If everyone believed that people who had different dominant hands were differing in intelligence, we may just have to believe all the stereotypes I wrote above. :)

Left handedness is caused by using more of the right hand side of the brain. This is generally atributed to being more creative. When I was doing a degree in Graphic Design there were five of us creative students living in a house together and four of us were left handed. My sister and uncle are also creative and they're both left handed, so your boys are more likely to be arty rather than brainy, which I think is even better!

We use the other side of the brain to right-handed people. It means we tend to be more artistic but not so good with logic. A non "clever" advantage comes with raquet sports - as there are less left-handed people, it is harder to play against us at eg tennis, squash and badminton. In football too left-footed players are often sought (and if left-handed you may well also be left-footed) - there was a search for such a person for the England side for many years.

I would have been left handed if my mother hadn't persisted in making me use my right hand and if I hadn't had to cope with the problem of handedness I may have had a better start in life so it's possible that natural lefties who aren't coerced into using the "wrong" hand may have an advantage.

Research suggests that left handed people are more creative than right handed people. However, other research would suggest that left handed people are also more likely to suffer from Schizophrenia than right handed people!

I agree with Pete... I am left-handed and I am very creative. But as for clever... not so much.
