Some of them use colored blocks of what looks like wax. The printer melts a very thin layer to the paper. If you hold a piece of paper under a light so that it reflects, you will notice a difference between the black ink on the paper and the color ink if it was printed with a color laser printer. The black ink will reflect less light than the color wax-based ink.

There are two types of systems used in a colour laser printer.
1. Uses a single Photoconductive drum and runs the paper 4 times to print Black, Cyan, Magenta and yellow. (there are four seperate rollers, developers in the machine. each time one developer loads the colour onto the drum)

2. the other option is to use 4 drums and four developers of the above mentioned colours. seperately. This option is used now to increase the speed of printing. Can print upto 60 copies per minute.

hope this helps

nicely laser printers supply a miles greater powerful end, however the working expenses are plenty greater desirable than a ink jet printer, it relies upon on what scale of printing your doing, eg if its above a4 length prints. i could advise getting a ink jet printer first of all
