Do people really understand each others culture and why is it that more cultures do not marry.For those that have, what barriers have you had to overcome.

I think the society gives room to integrate.But in a situation where people are not accepted because of their color,language and ethnic backgroung,they tend to seperate from the mainstream and live within their group. You will agree with me that this limits the potential in the individual. Let us accept people for who they are and allow them to integrate in to the society.

People are more tolerant in the States than in Europe, but we still have a ways to go. Most people DON'T understand each others' cultures and it's mostly out of that sense of uncertainty, not necessarily prejudice, that people don't inter-marry. People of different cultures are what makes America so colorful and spicy and exciting. No offense to the Nordic nations (ie Swedes, etc), they're a great population and a wonderful culture but they're not as fun and vigorous as we are!!! ;o) Diversity is a great thing.

People don't integrate in ANY society. The best any society can do is develop a high degree of tolerance.
