i also sell gold...the majority of what i have is yellow, we have only a small selection of white gold. what i have noticed is it depends on the differant cultures. i live in Arizona where there are alot of hispanics and yellow gold is sort of a status symbol, this who most of my clientele is also most of the older americans i sell to like yellow. the younger generations (say mid-thirties and younger) seem to like white. i personally think it is a matter of personal taste and skin tone. so either way i hope you do well, good luck.

I've always preferred silver, white gold, etc. over yellow gold. But I'm also big on colored stones. There are certain stones that look better in yellow gold as they look washed out in a silver-toned setting. I have a peridot ring that's a prime example. Before I bought the ring, I compared the two settings. The stone looked so pale against silver yet the green popped against the yellow gold.
At the same time, my style has been evolving over the years. I used to wear mostly black or blue... cool tones. I've slowly been changing over to browns and a more earthy palate. As I've been experimenting, I've noticed that yellow gold has a more organic feel to it compared to a silver tone, which is generally more harsh and cold.
It's a tough call to say whether yellow gold is increasing in popularity or not. I generally say the preference is more for silver-toned jewelry still, but there are certain pieces that I've preferred in yellow gold. It's popularity has been increasing with me, anyway.

I've always worn yellow gold. But then I'm one of those people who looks better in yellow than in white gold or silver.
As for yellow gold coming back in style, I don't think jewelry metals ever go truly out of style. More and more people are just learning what looks best on them, so they try to wear it. Most people have the skin tone and coloring that looks better in white gold, silver, or platinum. So that's partly why yellow gold has been seen less in jewelry, it's more than just popularity.

Frankly white gold is much nicer is color and looks prettier on a slender finger. I was never big on yellow gold to begin with. Plus my 18 carat white gold engagement ring just wouldn't look as gorgeous if it weren't white. And in the end, I somehow doubt that yellow gold will ever beat out white gold. Or rather, I myself hope not.

I have always preffered yellow gold to white gold. i know that white gold is usually more expensive and more valuable than yellow gold, but it just looks like silver to me and I like the yellow gold instead. i guess it's like someone else answered, it becomes a status thing.

I think the reason white gold sells more is because people can pass it off as platinum. Last time I checked, white gold was cheaper. People need to get their BLING on!
