It's been known to be a pretty good deterrant for all but the most hard-core criminals.

The only problem is that there is too much money being made! (on both sides of the fence) The government doesn't want to abolish the drug trade!

The death sentence in Singapore for drug trafficking is only pertaining to heroin, and that is in the larger amounts of it. (like 15g-20g +)

I think they should loosen up the drug laws here in the USA! Weed out the worthless people! Don't make it hard to obtain, simply supply addicts with an easy route to get more and more and more! The tax revenue from this traffic would be thru the roof! Then we could have some sort of health care that isn't embarrassing!

SINGAPORE???!?!!?!?! You know its also illegal to chew gum in that country? As a former drug user I would hate to think I would have been killed for my addiction as opposed to put in treatment to break my nasty habit.

Mandatory sentencing has shown that the small fish always fry on these matters and the sharks always get away. So if you want to implement the murder of small time crooks while cartel leaders walk free...sure if that band aid looks pretty to ya!!!!

Drugs should be legalized. There is nothing in the Constitution that authorizes the government to oulaw any substances. Last time they tried was called Prohibition. They needed a Constitutional amendment to outlaw alcohol. Why don't they need one to outlaw "drugs"? Answer: They do!

I think it would work, but it would take a lot of work to get it made into a law, since so few crimes now carry the death penalty.
