What a question love it!! In my opinion when those words were written the queen was seen as the nation's leader therefore we would give her the powers of God to keep her save (save her) in turn our country is safe (saved). I guess the Queen does save the people as she would have spread the wealth of the nation when those words were written I guess.

I don't think so... God has to save the rest too. Why delegate to the Queen something god can abviously do? It's all politics anyway. Queen has to be in charge so it should look like she's the only one who needs and gets saving.

It's not really a two-way street in that respect - certainly in this day and age when the Queen is really just a figurehead but in the old days a powerful king would fight on behalf of his people to prevent enemies from overcoming his kingdom and enslaving or killing his subjects so in that respect it was more of a two-way street then
