This is a question of how dead do you want to be. The tobacco provided for roll ups generally is not treated with the same chemicals that the ready mades are - you're handling the leaf and doing the manual assembly work. With the ready mades, they need the tobacco to compact more so that the papers are easier to fill, so additives are put in the tobacco that makes it a little more dry. Either way, the question of what's worse is like asking if it's more fatal to fall from a plane at 1000 feet or 5000 feet.

If you roll with filters, maybe, but only if the tobacco is free of all additives. The regular tobacco companies put chemicals and additives in cigarettes to taste good but nobody knows how they affect you.

By the way did you know that there are 3000 chemicals and 300 gasses given off by a cigarette including radioactive plutonium? LOL its true.

All tobacco is bad. Find a healthier alternative. You're not glamorous looking when you smoke AND you Stink! If you don't believe me do this- Place a few cigarette butts in a empty jar and every now and then unscrew the cap and take a whiff! add a few drops of water & see what you really smell like! That will get you to quit. Now imaging "Kissing" something that smells like that!!! Ugh.

It is true that roll-ups contain less chemicals. In particular, large amounts of magnesium are used in the paper of cigarettes to make them burn evenly and no go out, this is very poisonous when inhaled.

Some people argue however, that the opposite is true because roll-ups are not usually made with filters, and therefore the smoker inhales alot more tar. My friends that smoke roll-ups buy separate packets of filters which they put in their roll-ups. I think that this is probably the best way to smoke if you really must.

After spending two weeks in hospital after a near fatal Asthma attack brought on by smoking roll ups, I would say that all tobacco is harmfull.
Whilst I was a smoker(as I've now successfully stopped for 5 months) I used to joke that I've never heard of anyone who didn't smoke and hasn't died I would say that I was fooling myself as to not face the reality that I was killing myself.
I am not going to say though that smoking should be band as that would be hypocritical of me and it is every body's right to have freedom of choice.

Not sure. I've heard of several people living past their nineties who rolled and who smoked tobacco in the pipe.

hi, my wife smokes tobacco as in the long run it is cheaper than cigs(here in new zealand cigs are expensive)

she says " if the tobacco comes from the tobacco company is it is the same chemicals that are in cigs, unless you have your own tobacco."

this site www.anscigs.com
for a natural tobacco cigarette without the ton of nasty chemicals. and they have a free carton too i think.

for me a none smoker, when the wife smokes tobacco it is like she is smoking 3 cigs, the amount of smoke and smell.

I use to think that, so i smoked roll-ups for the past 20yrs....Its all highly addictive and will kill you in the end. My uncle died of lip cancer...so take my advice and take up jogging and a healthy life style. you will smell fresh and look so much better. People who smoke tailor-made ciggies stink real bad, especially on a wet day. I'm on my first week of giving up and i feel so much better for it. Beat the weed.x

All tobacco is, as far as I know, completely harmless UNTIL you set fire to it and inhale the resulting smoke into your lungs, at which point all tobacco is lethal.

O.K?
